Market Operations (May 2026)

This monthly report provides key statistics on the work we carried out in discharging our regulatory duties at each stage during the reporting period. The information covers: the number and status of listing applications processed, the number of letter(s) of comments and guidance issued to new/potential new listing applicants and their advisers and the corresponding processing times, the number of rejected and returned applications, and the number of delisted and suspended companies.

Overview of Listed Companies

Statistics as at 29 May 2026.

Main Board: 2,374 as at 1 January 2026; 61 new listings; 16 delistings; 2,419 as at 29 May 2026.
GEM: 312 as at 1 January 2026; 1 new listing; 6 delistings; 307 as at 29 May 2026.
Total: 2,686 as at 1 January 2026; 62 new listings; 22 delistings; 2,726 as at 29 May 2026.

Initial Public Offering Applications (as at 29 May 2026)

Total number of listing applications processed during the reporting period (up to the date of this report in 2026): 698.

By segment (Main Board / GEM / Others(1)): 663 / 10 / 25 processed, 698 in total; of which:

  • Existing applications and re-applications outstanding as at 31 December 2025: Main Board 372, GEM 6, Others 1, total 379.
  • New applications received in 2026: Main Board 291, GEM 4, Others 24, total 319.

Application status as at 29 May 2026 (Main Board / GEM / Others / Total):

  • Listed: 61 / 1 / 22 / 84.
  • Approved by the Listing Committee, pending listing: 19 / 0 / 3 / 22.
  • Being processed: 494 / 6 / 0 / 500.
  • Other (processing deadline lapsed, rejected, returned or voluntarily withdrawn): 89 / 3 / 0 / 92.

Processing Times (Exchange Letters of Comment/Guidance and Key Stages)

Notes on the statistics: the Exchange treats all listing applicants equally under the rules; processing times are affected by a number of factors (including the quality and timeliness of applicants' responses and the time taken for approvals from other government departments and regulators). The following are the number of business days corresponding to letters issued/responses given by the Exchange during the relevant reporting month.

Indicators for May 2026:

  • Guidance on the Listing Rules issued for proposed new listing applications: 21.
  • Median number of business days for the Exchange to issue a written response: 8.
  • First comment letters issued for new listing applications: 42; median number of business days for first comment letters: 14.
  • Second comment letters issued for listing applications: 50; median number of business days for second comment letters: 18.
  • Hearing letters issued for listing applications: 36; median number of business days for hearing letters: 15.
  • Letters issued in May 2026 regarding incomplete responses/major issues/major new developments: 9.

Listing applications submitted to the Listing Committee for consideration in the 12 months ended 29 May 2026: 158.

  • Median total business days taken by the Exchange to issue comment letters between acceptance of the listing application and issuance of the hearing letter: 35.
  • Median total business days taken by parties other than the Exchange (e.g. sponsors) between acceptance of the listing application and issuance of the hearing letter: 64.
  • Median total business days from acceptance of the listing application to issuance of the hearing letter: 98.

Newly listed companies in the 12 months ended 29 May 2026: 153; median total business days from approval at the Listing Committee hearing to listing: 18.
